Job Summary:
The Construction Yard Runner (Warehouse Associate) is responsible for receiving, moving, loading, and unloading equipment, materials, and supplies necessary for daily operations while maintaining organized inventory across the warehouse and yard. This role plays a critical part in ensuring operational readiness by managing deliveries, supporting inventory accuracy, maintaining equipment, and assisting with site upkeep. Success in this role requires dependability, adaptability, safety awareness, and the ability to work efficiently in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
• Responsible for the daily opening and closing procedures of the office yard, ensuring all gates and buildings are secure.
• Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of the office interior, yard areas, and restrooms to maintain a professional and safe environment.
• Safely operate and maneuver large-scale vehicles, including 20ft stake beds and dump trucks, in various traffic conditions.
• Manage both local short trip deliveries and long-distance driving assignments based on project needs.
• Receive materials and tools, verifying order contents for accuracy.
• Track inventory of all materials and tools in the warehouse and/or yard, both manually and electronically.
• Move, load, and unload equipment, materials, and supplies using forklifts when required.
• Maintain warehouse and yard cleanliness, organization, and safety.
• Maintain and repair building and yard equipment or arrange repairs as needed.
• Clean up oil spills, drips, and slipping hazards immediately.
• Collaborate with warehouse personnel to support efficient daily operations.
• Escalate issues as necessary and perform additional duties within functional scope based on business needs.
Required Qualifications:
Education, Licensing, and Certifications
• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Forklift certification required.
• OSHA 10 certification required.
Experience
• Experience in warehouse, yard, construction, or logistics environments preferred.
• Experience operating forklifts and large-scale work vehicles preferred.
Skills and Abilities
• Ability to operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially with inventory and materials.
• Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, and warehouse software systems.
• Ability to operate office equipment such as copiers, calculators, phones, and postage systems.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to read and interpret emails, catalogs, reports, receipts, invoices, and purchase orders.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees, vendors, supervisors, customers, and manufacturers.
• Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities, schedules, and overtime requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in construction yard operations or warehouse management.
• Familiarity with inventory tracking systems and material handling processes.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, squat, push, pull, twist, and lift for extended periods.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to work around heavy equipment and machinery safely.
• Must be able to maintain visual and audible awareness of surroundings for safe coordination.
• Must be able to wear safety boots, hardhat, safety glasses, and other required PPE.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
