Job Title: Group Leader
Schedule: Approx. 20-25 hrs pr week
Job Type: Part Time/Non-Exempt/Hourly
Pay Rate Rage: $17.50-$19 per hour
Job Location: Will be located on Staten Island, NY ** as agreed upon at time of hire**
JOB DESCRIPTION: United Activities Unlimited, Inc. (UAU) is a Staten Island-based community organization providing youth development, education, and community support services. The Group Leader supports COMPASS, SONYC, Beacon, and Cornerstone programs by supervising classroom-based afterschool activities for youth ages 5 to 13. This role focuses on creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment that promotes social, emotional, and academic growth while supporting program staff with daily operations and activity implementation.
REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must be at least 18 years of age
· High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred
· Minimum of two years of experience working directly with children ages 5 to 13
· At least one year of experience in a classroom, daycare, or school-based setting
· Commitment to working from a strength-based perspective
· Cultural competence and the ability to effectively engage diverse populations
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively
· Willingness to take initiative and demonstrate flexibility
· Must pass required reference checks and background clearances as required by DOH, DOE, DYCD, and UAU
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to work both indoors and outdoors based on program needs and weather conditions
· Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
· May require prolonged standing and walking during program hours
· Ability to remain in a stationary position for portions of the day
· Ability to communicate clearly and exchange accurate information
· Ability to observe details at close range
