Door Attendant
Operation New Hope is a nonprofit operating in Jacksonville, Orlando, St. Johns County, the Space Coast, Tampa, and St. Petersburg. Our pre-release and post-release programs provide job training and placement, and comprehensive support services to people returning from incarceration and others who have been affected by the justice system with the goal of facilitating successful transitions back into the community. We motivate our clients to become productive, responsible citizens, and our programs help prevent recidivism, reduce the repeated costs of incarceration, and improve public safety. Our dedicated team supports career opportunities, mental health, and overall stability of our clients to help them achieve self-sufficiency.
Position Overview: As the first point of contact for clients and visitors, the Door Attendant sets the tone for the experience they will have at Operation New Hope. This position provides security and high-level customer service to all clients, visitors, and staff. The Door attendant is responsible for screening clients and visitors entering Operation New Hope to help assure a safe and conducive operation that supports the staff working on our campus.
Reports to: Sr. Director of Client Services
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Greets all visitors and clients entering the building at the front entry with a positive, helpful demeanor.
- Directs entry traffic in the lobby, keeping it accessible and free from overcrowding.
- Monitors the front entry (inside & outside) and security cameras throughout the property watching for suspicious activity, reporting and responding to concerns and disturbances immediately.
- Enforcing staff and visitor policies, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed for any non-employee entering the building.
- Maintains a clean lobby, managing deliveries, keeping logs, and coordinating with other staff.
- Provides visitors with information about Operation New Hope and its programs.
- Supports the Intake team as needed, providing visitors with applications for enrollment.
- Connect clients to resources in the community to help with their re-integration after incarceration as needed.
- Other duties as needed.
Education / Experience / Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or GED required.
- At least 4 years of Door Attendant, Basic Office Security, or High Traffic Customer Service experience required.
- Experience working with marginalized or underserved populations preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of building security procedures and safety protocols.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent Customer service skills.
- Personable, attentive, and adept at handling a diverse range of situations with poise and professionalism.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
- Upholds the highest ethical standards; is trustworthy and reliable.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to clear a Level I Background check through the Department of Corrections.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
