Job Description
The In-line Extrusion Operator is responsible for operating extrusion and thermoforming operations in tandem to produce quality parts while meeting production standards according to the established procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment, including handling chemicals and operating machinery responsibly.
• Adhere steadfastly to company GMPs and wear the required PPE.
• Properly starts up and shuts down process equipment in accordance with published production schedules
• Initiate shut down of machinery in case of an emergency.
• Operate inline production equipment in accordance with production schedule and product specification
• Monitor machines and makes adjustments during production run as needed.
• Perform minor maintenance on inline production equipment to ensure machinery can meet production requirements.
• Identify defects and suspect products, sort and/or remove them from the line, and report concerns to supervisors and QC.
• Troubleshoot and diagnoses machinery if quality of product does not meet specifications.
• Notify the Plant Manager or his/her assignee if product does not meet standards.
• Complete assigned documentation processes such as production reporting.
• Maintain legible and detailed records of production: quality checks, material changes, downtime, scrap and quantities produced.
• Conduct cleaning and sanitation of machinery and surrounding areas to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
• Pack product and relieves personnel for breaks
• Grind startup plastic and defective process parts
• Unload trucks as required with proper documentation
• Palletize, document, apply tracer ticket, and wrap finished product.
• Maintain and monitor auxiliary raw materials supplementing the extrusion process
• Maintain daily/weekly/quarterly maintenance on all equipment
• Champion housekeeping efforts by grinding startup scrap, defective parts, and baling packaging materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Other duties may be assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Able to use assistive devices for lifting, pulling or pushing, including lift trucks, hand-trucks, pallet jacks, and hoists in a safe manner.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Able to multi-task and work systematically in a logical and effective manner under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
• Willing to learn, good attendance, hard work attitude.
• Able to work a 12-hour shift and weekends as needed.
• Able to walk around and stand on concrete surfaces.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• Sheet extrusion and thermoforming experience, preferred.
• Experience with Davis Standard extruders and TSL Thermoformers, preferred.
• Machine experience on similar equipment, preferred.
• Forklift and aerial lift experience, preferred.
