Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable Night Auditor to oversee our overnight front desk operations and manage our daily financial reconciliation. As the face of the hotel during the night, you will ensure our guests receive excellent service while accurately balancing the day’s commercial transactions. The ideal candidate enjoys working independently, possesses strong basic accounting skills, and can handle late-night guest requests or emergencies with a calm, professional demeanor.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Auditing Duties:
- Run the Night Audit: Execute the nightly audit process within the Property Management System (PMS) to close out the business day.
- Balance Accounts: Reconcile and balance daily credit card transactions, cash drawers, and department revenues (room service, gift shop, parking, etc.).
- Fix Discrepancies: Identify and correct any errors, overcharges, or mispostings on guest folios or ledger accounts.
- Reporting: Prepare and distribute daily financial reports (like occupancy percentages, daily revenue, and manager reports) to corporate and incoming management.
Front Desk & Guest Services:
- Guest Management: Process late check-ins and early check-outs, verifying payment methods and IDs.
- Problem Solving: Respond politely to overnight guest requests, noise complaints, or maintenance issues.
- Reservations: Take late-night phone reservations, answer inquiries, and process room cancellations or modifications.
Safety & Security:
- Property Patrols: Perform regular walkthroughs of the lobby and corridors to ensure the building is secure.
- Emergency Contact: Serve as the primary point of contact in the event of an overnight emergency (fire alarms, medical situations, or power outages).
- Morning Transition: Complete the shift handover checklist and brief the morning team on any notable overnight events or VIP arrivals.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree or coursework in hospitality management, accounting, or finance is a plus.
- Experience: 1+ years in a hotel front desk role or background in basic bookkeeping/auditing preferred.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with standard hotel Property Management Systems (like Opera, FOSSE, PEP, or SynXis) and Microsoft Excel.
- Mathematical Accuracy: Strong basic math skills with a high degree of accuracy when handling cash and credit transactions.
- Schedule Flexibility: Ability to work consistently overnight, including weekends and holidays.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs if helping with guest luggage.
Key Competencies
- Independence: Comfortable working alone with minimal supervision during the night.
- Trustworthiness: High level of integrity when handling sensitive guest financial data.
- Calm Under Pressure: Able to handle rare but high-stress overnight emergencies smoothly.
