Maintenance Mechanic

Job Requirements

Maintenance Mechanics are required to be flexible and proactive in order to be able to perform these tasks effectively. They need to posses knowledge of safety procedures and a suitable fitness level, Possessing machinery knowledge is necessary and the ability to follow instructions is also an absolute must for them. While all these are very important in Maintenance Mechanics skill set, most skills depend on the setting that they work in and the need for dexterity, both mental and physical.

Physical Requirements

Ø  Able to regularly use hands to handle, and feel.

Ø  Must have full use of hands and arms and legs to reach and operate equipment.

Ø  Able to move equipment which would include pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting.

Ø  Able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb.

Ø  Able to regularly lift or move objects of 35 lbs. or more

Ø  Able to read and understand maintenance procedures.

Ø  Able to work from maintenance work order system.

Ø  Able to work in a considerable noisy environment from equipment.

Ø  Able to perform work duties outside in varying weather conditions prevalent at the time.

Ø  Must be physically capable of performing work from ladders, lift trucks, and roofs to be able to install, maintain and repair equipment and fixtures

Ø  Ability to work hours as required by production, overtime and including weekends

Required Tasks/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Ø  Maintenance experience is appreciated.

Ø  Able to work with tonnage, air and/or heat powered machinery

Ø  Able to learn and understand all policies and procedures pertinent to departmental operations and the job.

Ø  Able to learn, comprehend, maintain, and enforced the company’s policies and procedures.

Ø  Able to make effective decisions.

Ø  Able to communicated effectively with the supervisors and co-workers in a professional and friendly manner

Ø  Able to complete simple math calculations when taking measurements.

Ø  Able to follow verbal and written instructions to perform specific tasks.

Ø  Able to work independently as well productively as a member of a team.

Ø  Able to follow safety practices and be safety conscious

Ø  Use tools and equipment properly to avoid damage, loss or injury.

Ø  Clean job site and work area daily or more often, as needed.

Ø  Verify tools and equipment are maintained, clean, secured and stored properly at the end of each shift.

Ø  Watch and report any unsafe working conditions.

Ø  Use designated safety equipment.

Ø  Insure that work in progress and the job site are protected (from employees and that the employees are protected.

Ø  Respond quickly to unusual situations during operations, including power failure, fire alarms, employee evacuation.

Ø  Perform inspection checklist faithfully and honestly according to procedure.

Essential Duties

Ø  Maintenance Mechanics must be able to operate equipment.

Ø  Repairs and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with operation manual and manufacturer’s specifications.

Ø  Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.

Ø  Comply will all company quality and safety requirements.

Ø  Performs mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.

Ø  Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment.

Ø  Performs schedule maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
