Assistant sailing instructor

We are seeking an energetic Assistant Sailing Instructor who loves sailing and enjoys working with youth. This role involves supporting the lead instructor in teaching sailing classes at Norton Pond in Lincolnville, Maine. Ideal candidates have experience in high school or collegiate sailing and a passion for fostering a safe and engaging learning environment for students. This job is a summer job, runs for 8 weeks from June 29 until August 24, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Support the lead instructor in all teaching activities
• Engage youth in sailing lessons and activities
• Assist with sailing instruction and on-water supervision
• Monitor safety and respond to emergencies as needed
• Prepare and maintain sailing equipment
• Assist with student assessment and classroom activities
• Collaborate closely with the lead instructor and team
• Ensure clear communication with students and staff

Required Qualifications

• Entry-level experience in sailing instruction
• High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in sailing and youth coaching
• Knowledge of safety procedures
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Instructional skills for teaching sailing effectively
