Commercial Truck Driver (CDL Class A)

About this role

Powder River Logistics is seeking experienced CDL Class A drivers to haul freight and equipment across the mountain west region. This is a regional position based out of our Buford terminal, with routes primarily in Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, and Montana. You'll operate our fleet of well-maintained trucks, manage your own schedule within company guidelines, and maintain the highest safety standards. Typical weekly runs average 2,000–2,500 miles with 4–5 days on the road and 2–3 days home.

Key responsibilities

• Operate commercial trucks safely and professionally, following all DOT regulations and company safety policies
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; report maintenance issues immediately
• Maintain accurate logbooks and comply with Hours of Service regulations
• Load and secure cargo properly; verify weight and documentation
• Deliver freight on time while maintaining excellent customer service
• Maintain a clean driving record and adhere to all traffic laws
• Safety bonus program and driver appreciation incentives

• Communicate effectively with dispatch and office staff via radio and phone

What we're looking for

Required qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class A) with air brake endorsement
• Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience (OTR or regional)
• Clean driving record; no DUIs or major violations in past 5 years
• Ability to pass DOT physical and background check
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service compliance
• Professional demeanor and strong communication skills
• Willingness to be away from home 4–5 days per week

Preferred qualifications

• Hazmat endorsement
• Tanker or flatbed experience
• Regional hauling experience in mountain west
• Excellent safety record and completion of safety training programs
