Traveling Lead Fiber Technician/Foreman

Insight Global’s client is building a high-impact, fast-moving “tiger team” to support new data center fiber builds across the country. This deployment team will enter new markets to:

• Stand up operations from the ground up
• Lead field execution and crews on-site
• Drive successful delivery in fast-paced, large-scale environments

Position: Deployment Team (Lead Fiber Technician / Foreman / Supervisor)

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Home Base Location: Northern Virginia (2 openings)

Compensation & Benefits

• Lead Fiber Technician: $38–$43/hour
• Foreman: $43–$48/hour
• Supervisor: $90K–$110K salary + bonus

Travel & Deployment:

• Candidates will be deployed nationwide to launch new data center fiber projects and stabilize existing sites.
• Initial deployment will begin in Red Oak, TX (Dallas/Abilene market)
• Over time, individuals will transition to primarily supporting their home market, with ongoing travel as needed
• Team members will either move to the next project location or return to their home base between deployments
• Candidates are expected to remain based at home but be fully available to deploy when needed

Key Responsibilities

• Provide on-site leadership for large fiber technician crews on data center builds
• Lead project stand-up from early deployment through execution
• Oversee fiber installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting (single-mode & multi-mode)
• Read and interpret prints, schematics, and fiber matrices
• Ensure teams meet production timelines, quality standards, and safety requirements
• Coordinate with Project Managers, General Contractors, and client stakeholders
• Perform or oversee fiber testing (OTDR, light source/power meter, EXFO) and documentation
• Support training and mentorship of junior technicians
• Assist with materials management, logistics, and daily site reporting

Required Experience

• 3+ years of fiber optic installation experience in commercial or data center environments
• Experience as a Lead Tech, Foreman, or Supervisor managing crews in the field
• Strong knowledge of:
• • Fiber pathways, trays, and structured cabling systems
  • Termination (fusion splicing preferred)
  • Fiber testing and troubleshooting (OTDR, etc.)
• Experience in data center or hyperscale environments
• Ability to travel 75–100% for extended durations depending on project lifecycle
