Job Title: Quality Lab Supervisor
Job Description

The Quality Lab Supervisor leads a team of Quality Lab Technicians to ensure accurate, timely evaluation of materials and products while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and organization. This role oversees laboratory testing activities, administers quality-related software, drives continuous improvement in lab processes, and supports manufacturing operations by ensuring products meet established performance specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assign daily and long-term tasks to Quality Lab Technicians to ensure accurate and timely evaluation of raw materials, in-process batches, finished products, and customer-owned inventory.
  • Uphold and reinforce 5S standards within the quality laboratory to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Administer the WinSPC software as the primary point of contact for users, including authorizing collection plans, troubleshooting user and system issues, and overseeing system updates and enhancements.
  • Lead the recertification process for raw materials, stock products, and customer-owned inventory to ensure ongoing compliance with quality and performance specifications.
  • Initiate in-process batch adjustments of mature formulated products to ensure they meet defined product performance specifications and quality standards.
  • Authorize internal product testing deviations and approve QA test sheet modifications for formulated and packaged products in alignment with quality policies and procedures.
  • Train Quality Lab Technicians in all aspects of established test methods, instrumentation, and laboratory equipment to ensure consistent, accurate, and reliable testing.
  • Promote and monitor data integrity within the quality lab, ensuring that all test results are documented accurately and handled in accordance with established procedures.
  • Provide quality control leadership by guiding technicians on troubleshooting test issues, interpreting results, and resolving quality-related concerns.
  • Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and other departments to address quality issues, support process improvements, and ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze complex or diverse information and recommend appropriate corrective or preventive actions.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and cross-functional partners through clear verbal and written communication.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a quality laboratory setting.
  • Associate Degree in a related technical field is required.
  • Ability to independently problem-solve and apply critical thinking in a laboratory and manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in synthesizing complex or diverse information to support sound decision-making.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office Suite, internet, email, and ERP software.
  • Hands-on experience with quality management, quality assurance, and quality control in a laboratory environment.
  • Quality control leadership experience overseeing laboratory testing and personnel.
  • Laboratory experience in a quality control setting.
  • Experience with chemical manufacturing processes and environments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical field is preferred.
  • Experience administering or using WinSPC or similar statistical process control software.
  • Familiarity with 5S or other lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and projects within the quality lab.
  • Ability to train and mentor laboratory staff in test methods, equipment use, and data integrity best practices.
Work Environment

This role operates in a quality control laboratory within a chemical manufacturing environment. The position follows a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, providing a stable and predictable workweek. The supervisor works closely with laboratory technicians and cross-functional teams, using laboratory instrumentation, established test methods, and quality systems such as WinSPC, ERP software, and standard office applications. The environment emphasizes 5S principles, data integrity, and collaboration to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient lab that supports safe, high-quality production.

This is a Permanent position based out of Germantown, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
