Job Description
What You Will Be Doing
- Provide day-to-day employment counseling to hospitality industry clients.
- Advise employers regarding wage and hour compliance issues.
- Counsel clients on discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and employment law matters.
- Represent employers in employment litigation and administrative proceedings.
- Handle class and collective wage and hour actions.
- Serve as lead litigation counsel on employment disputes.
- Draft motions, pleadings, legal memoranda, and employment-related agreements.
- Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies.
- Advise clients regarding New York State and New York City employment regulations.
- Work closely with restaurants, hotels, entertainment venues, and hospitality employers.
- Assist clients with labor relations and workforce management matters.
- Develop long-term client relationships through proactive legal guidance.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active New York Bar admission.
- 4–8 years of Labor & Employment law experience.
- Significant employment counseling experience.
- First-chair litigation experience involving discrimination and wage & hour claims.
- Experience handling employment litigation from inception through resolution.
- Class action and collective wage & hour litigation experience (required).
- Strong understanding of New York State employment law.
- Strong understanding of New York City employment regulations.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
- Strong academic credentials.
- Hospitality industry employment law experience.
- Labor relations experience.
- Familiarity with the New York State Hospitality Wage Order.
- Experience representing restaurants, hotels, nightlife, or entertainment businesses.
