Circle Haven is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing creative, person-centered opportunities and support services to adults with disabilities in South Jersey. Our Community Engagement Center offers classes in art, cooking, fitness, music, theater (and many more) that meet individuals where they are and support both personal growth and community connection. Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, creative, and adaptable Enrichment Teacher to facilitate engaging individual and small-group classes for adults with a wide range of abilities, interests, and support needs.
The position is ideal for someone who enjoys creating meaningful experiences and can confidently lead a variety of classes based on their strengths and participant interests. Classes could include music, movement/dance, life skills, recreation, social engagement, wellness, creative expression, or other enrichment-based activities.
The ideal candidate is comfortable adjusting their teaching style to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, anxiety, physical disabilities and varying communication styles.
No two days look exactly the same and this role requires flexibility, creativity, and a participant-centered mindset.
This is a part time position, with specific available time for groups to run in our center throughout the week and weekend. Candidates can discuss their schedule availability during the interview process.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engaging and individualized enrichment classes to adults of varying ability levels
- Lead programming based on your strengths and interests
- Adapt acitivties and teaching approaches to accommodate different communication styles, learning needs, and support levels.
- Create a supportive, respectful, and encouraging environment
- Collaborate with team members to organize performances, music groups, and community events
- Track and document participant progress and attendance
Ideal Qualifications
- Experience teaching, facilitating, coaching or leading groups
- Experience working with individuals with special needs
- Ability to adapt lessons based on instructional goals
- Creative, patient, and flexible teaching style
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Background in education, recreation, music, art, special education, psychology, therapeutic recreation, human services, social work, or a related field preferred
Schedule & Hours
- Flexible weekday schedule with opportunities available across weekdays and weekends
- Current priority coverage includes Monday/Tuesday evenings, Wednesday mornings and weekends
- Occasional Friday evening programming (approximately once per month)
- Current hours will depend on enrollment in classes and programming and can grow to as many hours as possible up to full time.
