Position Title: Associate Quality Assurance Tester

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an Associate level QA Tester to support software testing activities on a key Department of Veterans Affairs program. The successful candidate will work closely with developers, senior testers, product owners, and scrum teams to validate application functionality, document defects, and help ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior level QA Tester looking to enhance their skills and experience.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute manual test cases and document test results
  • Validate application functionality against requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using approved tools
  • Participate in regression, integration, and user acceptance testing activities
  • Perform API testing using tools such as Postman or Swagger
  • Validate data through basic database queries and analysis
  • Review JSON and XML messages used in system integrations
  • Collaborate with developers and senior QA personnel to resolve defects
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives
  • Support test automation initiatives and learn automation tools and frameworks
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • 1-3 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or information technology
  • Basic understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies
  • Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman or Swagger
  • Ability to understand and validate JSON and XML messages
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and database concepts
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment

WORKING CONDITIONS

Standard Business hours are Monday through Friday. Occasional extended or weekend hours may be required based on operational needs. Must have reliable internet service that allows for effective telecommuting.
