Our Direct Client has a new Tier 3 Engineer job. The Tier 3 Engineer is a senior-level technical role responsible for handling escalated support issues, leading complex technical engagements, and mentoring team members. This position requires advanced knowledge across cloud and on-premises environments, with strong emphasis on security, documentation, and client communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the final escalation point for in-house technical support and ticket resolution.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in Microsoft cloud solutions and related platforms.
  • Manage cloud and on-premises server environments, including virtualization and role configuration.
  • Implement and maintain security solutions (e.g., MFA, EDR, MDR).
  • Produce high-quality documentation, training materials, and knowledge transfer for clients and internal teams.
  • Mentor engineers and support professional development initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain network infrastructure: firewalls, switches, VLANs, wireless, segmentation, and related technologies.
  • Respond to Priority One incidents, including on-site support when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the security and compliance team on internal and client-related initiatives.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes for new and existing clients.
  • Participate in the after-hours support rotation.

Required Skills

Technical Skills

  • Expert-level experience with Windows Server (2025 and earlier), including commonly used roles and features.
  • Advanced virtualization skills (Hyper-V, VMware).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Azure).
  • Strong knowledge of Windows client operating systems.
  • Advanced networking skills: firewalls, switches, VLANs, VPNs, QoS, DNS (LAN/WAN).
  • Proficient in VPN technologies across multiple vendors.
  • Experience managing and troubleshooting VoIP systems.
  • Familiarity with security tools including MDR, EDR, and antivirus platforms.
  • Strong background in backup and disaster recovery solutions (Veeam, StorageCraft, etc.).

Soft Skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, with a strong focus on documentation and training.
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing engagements effectively.
  • Commitment to SOPs and continuous process improvement.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Collaborative attitude with leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar senior technical role.
  • Relevant certifications (Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Security+, SonicWall, etc.).
  • Degree in IT or a related field preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to pursue additional certifications as needed.
