Safety Coordinator

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Start Date: ASAP

Pay Range: $45.00/-$55.00/hr

Per diem available if a traveler

Diversified Safety Services is seeking an experienced Site Safety Coordinator to join our team and support our project in Indianapolis, IN. This role offers the opportunity to play a critical role in driving a culture of safety, ensuring compliance, and fostering a proactive approach to workplace health and safety on a large-scale, high-visibility project. All safety coordinators are responsible for assisting the safety manager with SSSP execution, including, but not limited to field supervision, training, safety administration, case/care management, and safety coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Champion Safety Culture: Prepare and enforce health and safety policies that build a safe, proactive jobsite environment.
Lead Safety Programs: Design and implement safety programs, plans, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
Monitor & Report: Track safety compliance, document findings, and communicate updates
Identify & Solve Hazards: Spot risks early, recommend solutions, and ensure preventive measures are put in place.
Drive Engagement: Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training sessions to keep teams engaged and aligned.
Stay Present & Involved: Maintain regular on-site presence, participate in project meetings, and provide proactive safety guidance.
Ensure Compliance: Verify that all work follows approved manuals, internal procedures, and contract requirements.
Maintain Documentation: Keep accurate logs of inspections, reports, and safety correspondence.
Oversee Site Activity: Supervise subcontractors and contractors to ensure work meets EHS requirements.
Investigate & Improve: Conduct investigations for accidents, incidents, and near misses; follow through on corrective actions.
Enforce Standards: Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with safety procedures at all times.
Support the Project: Contribute to additional safety initiatives and requirements as needed.

Qualifications

Valid BCSP STS-C Certification required
OSHA 510 required
NFPA 70E
First Aid/ CPR/ AED required
Narcan, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Emergency Procedures Training
3–5+ years of hands-on construction safety experience.
Strong working knowledge of OSHA guidelines, regulations, and safety programs.
Ability to produce clear reports, develop procedures, and implement effective safety solutions.
Excellent hazard recognition, data analysis, and risk assessment skills.
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication abilities.
Professional presence on-site and ability to lead teams through incidents or emergencies with composure.
