WorkSolved Staffing is hiring for Material Handler on 1st Shift in the Walker area. These are full-time 1st shift positions working for a local warehouse. Opportunities for advancement right from the start, company promotes from within.
Job Responsibilities:
As a Material Handler you will be responsible for the safe and efficient handling, storage, and transportation of steel materials within our warehouse. Your role is critical in ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of steel products to our customers and maintaining the overall organization and cleanliness of the warehouse.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Material Handling:
    • Safely operate forklifts, cranes, and other equipment to move, load, and unload steel materials.
    • Use proper lifting techniques and equipment to handle heavy and bulky steel products.
    • Inspect and verify the quality and quantity of incoming and outgoing materials.
  2. Inventory Management:
    • Keep accurate records of inventory levels and locations using computer systems or manual tracking methods.
    • Conduct regular cycle counts and assist in physical inventory audits.
    • Ensure materials are properly labeled and organized for easy retrieval.
  3. Safety Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
    • Identify and report safety hazards and incidents to the supervisor.
    • Participate in safety training programs and initiatives.
  4. Order Fulfillment:
    • Assist in picking and packing steel products for customer orders.
    • Prepare materials for shipment, including packaging and labeling.
    • Load and secure materials onto trucks or other transport vehicles.
  5. Warehouse Maintenance:
    • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
    • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and report any issues.
    • Help with general housekeeping duties as needed.
  6. Teamwork:
    • Collaborate with colleagues, including warehouse staff, drivers, and other team members, to ensure smooth operations.
    • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding work tasks and any issues.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Forklift certification and experience operating material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of steel materials, sizes, and shapes is a plus.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Safety-conscious with a commitment to following safety protocols.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced and sometimes physically demanding environment.
Details:
  • Payrate: 1st Shift $20.00+ per hour
  • 1st Shift 5:30am to 3:30PM
  • Moderate paced work
