Job Description
We are a non‐profit organization with a mission‐driven history dating back to 1891, dedicated to supporting the retired clergy of the United Methodist Church in the Northern California–Nevada area. We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to help maintain the physical condition, safety, and appearance of our residential community. This role requires someone who can confidently handle day‐to‐day maintenance tasks, respond to resident needs with professionalism, and support the overall operations of the property. This is an on‐site position; remote work is not available. This is not an entry‐level role.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and complete routine and minor maintenance repairs in a timely, professional manner.
Perform appliance repair, light carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and painting tasks.
Assist with apartment turns, including repairs, cleaning, and preparation for new residents.
Help oversee and maintain HVAC systems; HVAC certification is a plus, and company‐sponsored certification may be offered after a successful evaluation period.
Maintain swimming pool(s) and related equipment; CPO certification may also be sponsored after successful evaluation.
Keep grounds and common areas clean and free of debris.
Participate in a voluntary on‐call rotation for after‐hours emergencies.
Work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Physical & Functional Requirements
Medium to heavy physical work, including prolonged or repeated standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
Ability to lift up to 100 lbs, with frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
Regular, reliable attendance is required to meet the operational needs of the community.
Must be able to communicate effectively in person and by phone or radio to interact with residents, vendors, and team members.
Must be able to visually inspect equipment, units, and property areas to identify maintenance needs.
Must be able to hear alarms, equipment sounds, and emergency signals necessary to perform essential job duties.
Must have reliable transportation to participate in voluntary on‐call rotation schedule for emergencies and for work‐related trainings / errands.

Qualifications
2–5 years of proven property maintenance experience (multifamily experience preferred).
Strong knowledge of appliance repair, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
High School diploma or GED required.
Valid California driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and current auto insurance for on‐call emergencies.
Knowledge of Fair Housing laws is a plus.
Positive, professional customer service attitude.
