United Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Director of Shelter Outreach for a well-established nonprofit healthcare organization serving vulnerable communities throughout New York City.
This leadership opportunity is ideal for someone with experience in healthcare outreach, community outreach, business development, partnership development, community relations, nonprofit leadership, account management, or program management who thrives on building relationships, expanding community partnerships, and increasing access to essential healthcare services.

Location: Long Island City, Queens
Schedule: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm
Salary: $76k-82k annually plus full benefits
Responsibilities for the Director of Shelter Outreach:
- Serving as the primary liaison between the organization and homeless family shelters, domestic violence safe houses, community organizations, and government agencies throughout New York City.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with Shelter Directors, Directors of Social Services, Case Managers, and community partners.
- Promoting healthcare services through presentations, meetings, workshops, health fairs, and community outreach events.
- Developing strategic partnerships with shelters, nonprofit organizations, and community agencies.
- Negotiating and maintaining linkage agreements that expand access to healthcare services.
- Identifying opportunities to grow outreach programs and strengthen community engagement.
- Supervising and mentoring an outreach team while supporting departmental goals.
- Coordinating outreach initiatives, educational workshops, and community events.
- Preparing reports, analyzing outreach data, and identifying trends to improve program effectiveness.
- Collaborating with internal healthcare teams to improve patient access and service coordination.
- Advocating for underserved populations while increasing awareness of available healthcare resources.
Qualifications for the Director of Shelter Outreach:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Communications, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in healthcare outreach, community outreach, nonprofit outreach, business development, partnership development, program management, community engagement, account management, or public health.
- Strong relationship-building, networking, negotiation, and public speaking skills.
- Experience presenting services to community organizations, external partners, or healthcare stakeholders.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data reporting systems (EHR experience is a plus).
- Valid New York State driver’s license.
- Experience working with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), homeless services, public health, behavioral health, or nonprofit healthcare organizations is highly preferred but not required.
