Yard Driver/Driver I

Location: Sumner, Washington
Pay: $27.50 - $30.00 DOE 
Job Type: Full-Time

🔹 About the Role

We are seeking a safety-focused Driver I (Yard Driver) to support our warehouse and yard operations. This position is responsible for moving trailers and containers within our facility and, if qualified, between locations. This is a safety-sensitive role requiring attention to detail and a commitment to safe work practices.

🔹 Key Responsibilities

• Operate a yard tractor to move trailers/containers within the facility
• Transport trailers between facilities (if holding a valid Class A CDL)
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections (tires, brakes, lights, fuel, etc.)
• Assist with loading and unloading trucks as needed
• Follow dispatch instructions using RF systems and yard management tools
• Coordinate with yard controllers to optimize equipment turn times
• Direct outside drivers and ensure adherence to yard safety procedures
• Maintain yard organization and safe driving practices
• Ensure trailers are properly secured (wheel chocking, door positioning)

🔹 Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• 1+ year of experience operating a yard tractor or tractor-trailer
• Class A CDL (preferred for on-road transport duties)
• Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Reliable attendance and professionalism
