Job Title: Order Picker
Job Description
The Order Picker plays a key role in accurately receiving, picking, packing, and stocking a wide range of materials in a busy warehouse environment. This position works with both large industrial items and small parts, using RF scanning devices, material handling equipment, and computer systems to support efficient order fulfillment and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Use an RF scan gun to accurately locate, identify, and track inventory throughout the warehouse.
- Correctly pick, pack, and pull items according to type and quantity specified on orders.
- Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and push carts, depending on the inventory type and size.
- Handle a wide range of products, from large metal or PVC piping to small fasteners and endcaps, adjusting methods based on the phase of the construction project.
- Organize and maintain the staging area by prioritizing orders and ensuring items are clearly labeled and accessible.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment, including sweeping and mopping as needed to support safety and efficiency.
- Operate computers at the will-call booth to process orders and manage inventory information.
- Assist internal and external customers with item look-ups, availability checks, and order placement in a professional and efficient manner.
- Follow all safety procedures when operating equipment and handling materials, including heavy and bulky items.
- Support shipping, receiving, and inventory control activities as needed to ensure smooth warehouse operations.
Essential Skills
- Previous warehouse or general labor experience, preferably in a high-volume environment.
- Ability to count accurately and maintain strong attention to detail when picking and packing orders.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and maneuver items up to 100 lbs safely and consistently.
- Experience using RF devices or RF scan guns for inventory control and order picking.
- Ability to operate or willingness to learn to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Basic computer skills to operate systems at the will-call booth and perform item look-ups.
- Effective English communication skills to interact with customers and team members.
- Experience in order picking, shipping, receiving, inventory, or material handling in a warehouse setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a receiving-focused role within a warehouse environment.
- Experience in using electronic RF devices for order picking and inventory management.
- Forklift experience or the ability to develop forklift skills after completing internal training or certification processes.
- Experience working with plumbing supplies, construction materials, or similar industrial products.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and safety.

Work Environment
The position is based in a large warehouse that stores plumbing supplies ranging from 10–15 foot pipes to small bolts and fasteners. Work takes place both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, so you must be comfortable working in very hot summers and very cold winters. The environment is active and physically demanding, with frequent use of pallet jacks, forklifts, push carts, RF scan guns, and computer systems. The facility emphasizes cleanliness and safety, with expectations to help maintain a clean work area while handling a wide variety of materials throughout the day.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
