Job Description

The Press Brake Operator works in a climate-controlled production shop, operating a variety of press brake machines to produce small and large metal parts with a strong focus on productivity and quality. This role involves setting up and running press brakes, selecting proper tooling, making machine edits, and working primarily with sheet metal as well as other metals. The position is physically demanding, requiring lifting up to 65 lbs and consistently cycling through parts in a production-based environment. Training is available for setup and editing responsibilities, with opportunities to expand skills across multiple fabrication processes.

Responsibilities

  • Operate press brake machines, including 250-ton, 110-ton, and 55-ton units, to produce a wide range of small and large metal parts.
  • Set up press brake machines, including selecting and installing proper tooling for each job.
  • Make adjustments and edits to machine programs as needed to maintain part quality and production efficiency.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to ensure accurate part dimensions and specifications.
  • Work primarily with sheet metal while also processing other metals as required by production needs.
  • Consistently cycle through parts and maintain a strong production pace in a high-output environment.
  • Lift and handle materials and parts weighing up to 65 lbs as part of daily tasks.
  • Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Collaborate with the sheet metal team, including working alongside two presses, one punch, and one laser.
  • Participate in cross-training across related equipment such as shear, laser, burn table, punch press, forklift, and other fabrication machinery.
  • Perform basic fabrication tasks and support welding and general machine operating as needed.
  • Work with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

Essential Skills

  • 3–5 years of CNC press brake experience.
  • 1+ years of experience working with sheet metal in a production environment.
  • Proficiency in operating CNC press brakes and running production parts.
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints accurately.
  • Ability to set up press brake machines, including tooling selection and configuration.
  • Ability to edit and adjust machine settings and programs as needed.
  • Experience in general fabrication processes.
  • Capability to work with minimal supervision while meeting production goals.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 65 lbs and perform a physically demanding role.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience operating related fabrication equipment such as shear, laser, burn table, and punch press.
  • Forklift operating experience in a production or fabrication environment.
  • Basic welding experience to support fabrication operations.
  • Experience with machine setup and general machine operating in a production shop.
  • Willingness to cross train in multiple fabrication areas, including press brakes, punch, and laser.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a sheet metal team in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

The role is based in a climate-controlled machine production shop focused on sheet metal fabrication. You work on a weekend shift from Saturday to Monday, 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., totaling 36 hours per week, with an additional $200 per week for this schedule. You operate as part of the sheet metal team, working with two presses, one punch, and one laser, and have the opportunity to cross train across all these areas. The press brake equipment includes SAFAN DARLEY EIII-100-3100-P-MG, SAFAN DARLEY EIII-50-2050-U2-MG, and ACCURPRESS ACCEL 425012E machines. The environment is production-based, physical, and team-oriented, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and continuous learning.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orange Park, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
