Job Title: Production Operator
Job Description

This Production Operator role focuses on safely setting up, operating, and monitoring production line equipment to manufacture high-quality products. You will prepare machinery, interpret shop drawings to program equipment, perform quality checks, and make adjustments to ensure products meet established standards and delivery requirements. The position involves hands-on work in an industrial environment, including material handling, order preparation, and participation in continuous improvement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor assigned machinery and equipment on the production line.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings to correctly program and adjust production equipment.
  • Perform regular quality checks to ensure finished products meet established specifications and deliverables.
  • Make necessary adjustments to equipment to maintain product quality standards and minimize defects.
  • Troubleshoot common equipment issues and quality concerns to maintain efficient production flow.
  • Meet daily productivity and output goals while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.
  • Inspect equipment for safety and report or address any issues to prevent downtime or hazards.
  • Operate an overhead crane as needed to safely load and unload product from machines or storage areas.
  • Prepare orders for shipment, including handling, staging, and organizing finished goods.
  • Use hand tools and measuring tools, including tape measures, to set up and verify product dimensions.
  • Operate forklifts to move materials and products within the facility as required.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance production efficiency, safety, and product quality.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of experience operating relevant machinery and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated safety-oriented mindset and adherence to safe work practices.
  • Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure, including passing a tape measure test.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and work with production machinery.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds repetitively throughout the shift.
  • Ability to stand for the duration of the shift in an industrial environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience operating a forklift.
  • Experience with machine operation and general production or general labor tasks.
  • Ability to use hand tools in a production or mechanical setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings to support equipment programming and setup.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Overhead crane experience is a plus.
  • Previous machine operator or auto mechanic experience translates well to this role.
  • Experience with roll press machines.
  • Experience with flat machines.
  • Experience with slit machines.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with industrial equipment.
  • Experience in production or general production environments.

Work Environment

This role is based in an industrial production environment, working primarily as a machine operator. You will operate and monitor production machinery such as roll press, flat, and slit machines, as well as forklifts and overhead cranes, and use hand tools and measuring tools like tape measures. The standard shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with overtime potentially required based on production needs. The work involves standing for the full shift, repetitive lifting of 50+ pounds, and working around active machinery and material handling equipment. You will work on-site in a hands-on setting where safety, attention to detail, and adherence to established procedures are essential.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.25 - $18.50/hr.
