Pharmacy Technician - Patient Care Advocate
Location: Portland, OR (On‐site)
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hrs/week - paying hourly
Pay: $22–$24/hr
License Required: Active Oregon Pharmacy Technician License
Day to Day
You’ll spend your day supporting patients through a high volume of inbound and outbound calls, helping with prescription refills, onboarding new patients, scheduling medication deliveries, completing basic insurance verification, communicating with providers, and accurately documenting every interaction. This is a phone‐heavy, detail‐oriented role on a small, supportive team where strong customer service, clear communication, and accuracy are essential. Candidates don’t need prior pharmacy experience but must hold an active Oregon Pharmacy Technician license and be comfortable with desk‐based work, learning quickly, and engaging with patients over the phone.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage both inbound and outbound patient calls (typical range: ~15–16 calls/hour)
- Assist new patients with onboarding and check status of prescription orders
- Process refill requests and coordinate transfers to clinical pharmacists
- Verify insurance details and communicate with provider offices as needed
- Document all interactions accurately within our systems
- Support copay assistance renewals and other patient programs
- Provide exceptional, patient-centered customer service in a fast-paced queue environment
Requirements:
- Active Oregon Pharmacy Technician License
- Strong communicators who are patient-focused and comfortable on the phone
- People with healthcare exposure (pharmacy, hospital, medical office, billing/coding)
- Quick learners who manage multiple systems and detailed processes
- Team-oriented individuals who enjoy a smaller, tight-knit group

Schedule Details
- Technicians work rotating 8-hour shifts between 8am–7pm (M–F)
- Occasional Saturday rotation (8am–12pm), approximately once every 6–8 weeks
- Schedules are selected via shift bid, ranking preference
- Some teams operate on a 4X9 schedule (four 9-hour days) with another half day depending on business needs, or 5X8 schedule
- Shifts are flexible based on preference
Training & Ramp-Up
- ~90-day training program
- First 1.5–2 weeks cover system basics, workflow, and call handling
- Gradual layering of responsibilities (new patient calls, refill workflows, scheduling, etc.)
- Most technicians reach full independence around 2.5 months
