Genie Healthcare is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Carbondale, Illinois.

Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care throughout the perioperative process.
- Prepare operating rooms with necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Verify patient identity, surgical procedure, and consent according to facility protocols.
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection prevention standards.
- Function in circulating and/or scrub roles based on assignment requirements and competency.
- Monitor patients' physical and emotional status throughout surgical procedures.
- Assist surgeons and anesthesia providers during operations.
- Document patient care, medications, surgical counts, and procedural details accurately.
- Participate in surgical time-outs and patient safety initiatives.
- Respond effectively to emergencies and unexpected intraoperative situations.
- Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures and postoperative care when applicable.
- Adapt quickly to new facilities, policies, electronic medical record systems, and team environments.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Illinois
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred or required by facility.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Operating Room nursing experience.
- Travel nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and sterile technique.
Required Skills
- Expertise in perioperative nursing practices.
- Ability to circulate multiple surgical specialties, including orthopedic, general, vascular, robotic, neurosurgical, cardiovascular, or trauma cases, depending on facility needs.
- Excellent critical thinking and clinical judgment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability in fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
