Position Summary
We are a General Contractor delivering complex construction projects for public and private clients, including the U.S. federal government. Our work spans new construction, renovations, civil and utility infrastructure, and heavy structural concrete, using both hard-bid and design-build delivery methods.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to support and lead estimating efforts across a diverse portfolio of construction projects, including federal hard-bid and design-build work. While prior federal estimating experience is preferred, we recognize that qualified candidates may come from strong commercial, industrial, civil, or heavy construction backgrounds with skills that readily transfer to the federal environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed conceptual, schematic, design-development, and final bid estimates for federal construction projects. Lead estimating efforts for projects including new vertical construction, renovations and occupied facilities, horizontal and civil construction (roads, paving, sitework, drainage), utility construction (water, sewer, storm, electrical, communications), and deep foundations and structural concrete systems.
Additional responsibilities include analyzing drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and solicitation documents, developing accurate quantity takeoffs and pricing using industry-standard estimating software, soliciting and leveling subcontractor and supplier quotes, ensuring estimates comply with federal requirements including FAR clauses, Davis-Bacon wage determinations, bonding and insurance requirements, participating in bid strategy meetings and value engineering reviews, collaborating with project managers and superintendents, assisting with proposal development, and supporting post-award activities including estimate handoff and cost reconciliation.
Minimum Qualifications
10+ years of construction estimating experience with demonstrated experience estimating both hard-bid and design-build projects. Proven experience across a diverse range of construction scopes including new construction and renovations, horizontal and civil construction, utility construction, and deep foundations and structural concrete. Strong understanding of construction means, methods, labor productivity, materials, and equipment. Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software such as Sage, HeavyBid, OST, or Bluebeam. Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings and specifications. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience estimating federal construction projects. Familiarity with federal requirements such as Davis-Bacon wage rates and FAR contracting provisions. Experience with public-sector, municipal, or institutional projects. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience. Professional certifications such as CCM or PE are a plus.
What We Offer
Opportunity to transition into federal construction estimating with company support. Exposure to hard-bid and design-build federal projects. Diverse and technically challenging construction portfolio. Collaborative preconstruction and operations teams. Competitive compensation, benefits, and long-term career growth.
