SUMMARY: The General Foreman (GFM) develops crews, monitors progress and ensures projects stay on schedule and within allotted time and cost budgets. The GFM is responsible for ensuring projects are properly planned, including ordering and receiving materials, coordinating equipment availability, and ensuring crews understand the plan to execute successfully and safely within the given timelines.

· The Civil GFM oversees and ensures proper execution of trenching, concrete work, grading, and other ground-related tasks while maintaining quality and safety standards.

· The Telecommunication GFM analyze construction plans, approves scope of work, manages the installation, maintenance and decommissioning of tower components, ensuring work at heights is planned and executed safely and efficiently.

· The Mechanical GFM coordinates materials, personnel, and planning for efficient solar racking and panel installation while upholding quality and safety standards.

· The Electrical GFM review designs, procure materials, and oversee the installation and commissioning of electrical systems to ensure compliance with specifications and safety regulations.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


· Construction Management:

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage project construction from start to finish, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Assist the Project Manager with the creation of critical path schedules for new sites.
  • Maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective measures to ensure timely completion in co-ordination with other construction managers when required.
  • Ensure project resources such as materials, tools, and equipment are scheduled and delivered per the project plan.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to project specifications, quality standards, and safety guidelines.
  • Coordinate and communicate with project stakeholders, including other construction managers, project managers, customers, and subcontractors.


Team Leadership and Coordination:

  • Supervise and lead crews and subcontractors, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and adherence to project goals and ratios.
  • Assign tasks, provide technical guidance, and resolve any conflicts or issues that may arise.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment, promoting effective communication and teamwork among team members.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to support their professional development.
  • Manage, reviews and approve daily time and reporting from assigned Foreman and Subcontractors.
  • Create and monitor two week-look ahead and daily schedules for assigned crew types.

Quality Control and Safety:

  • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure the highest standards of workmanship and compliance with project requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and rectify any defects, deviations, or non-compliance issues.
  • Promote and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, training and regulations, creating a safe work environment for all personnel on-site.


For Civil GFMs - Ground-Related Activities:

  • Oversee trenching, concrete work, fence installation, soil management, grading, SWIP (Storm Water Pollution Prevention), and machine operations.
  • Ensure proper planning and execution of ground-related activities, maintaining quality and safety standards.

For Telecommunication GFMs – Telecommunication Systems

  • Oversee the maintenance, installation, and decommissioning of cellular and radio tower components such as coaxial cable, antennas, radios, fiber-optic cable, and broadcast equipment for cell phones, television, and radio.
  • Review and refine BOMs for both customer-issued and customer direct work, ensuring accuracy and identifying any missing materials that could impact the build.
  • Conduct job handoffs with to ensure accuracy throughout the bidding process.
  • Ensure proper planning and execution of work at heights, maintaining quality and safety standards.

For Mechanical GFMs - Racking and Panel Installation:

  • Manage the materials, planning, and coordination of personnel for the smooth and quick installation of racking and paneling for solar projects.
  • Ensure quality and safety standards are maintained during the installation process.
  • · For Electrical GFMs - Electrical System Design and Implementation:
  • Review electrical engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
  • Coordinate the procurement of electrical materials and equipment, ensuring compliance with project requirements and budget constraints.
  • Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, verifying compliance with design specifications and safety standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 – 5 years related experience as a Foreman or Construction Manager in one of the following specialties: Civil, Mechanical, Telecommunications or Electrical.
  • Strong understanding of the safety processes, OSHA requirements, and work done on construction sites, for one of the following construction specialties: Civil, Mechanical, Telecommunications or Electrical.
  • Possess or can obtain certifications/licenses in OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, RF Awareness, Blood Borne Pathogens, DOT Health Card (Company provides training to assist in obtaining/renewing required certifications)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, crews, job sites and customers
  • Proven ability to focus on daily construction processes as well as look ahead to anticipate and plan for upcoming work
  • Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, schematics and SOW
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate effectively, clearly and succinctly through spoken and written forms with peers, management, and customers. Able to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
  • Ability to learn and use Premise provided software
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products/construction management software
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving, analytical and attention to detail skills
  • This job requires travel 80% of the time.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a clean driving record
  • Professional certifications in construction management are preferred.
  • For Electrical GFMs only - MN Electrical Journeyworker or other state electrical license is required.

For Civil GFMs only:

  • Experience operating heavy equipment and forming, pouring and setting concrete.
  • Preference for the possession of a valid CDL driver’s license
