Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist (MT/MLS)
Location: Oak Hill, FL
Type: Full-Time | Permanent
Pay: $27.09/hr – $37.92/hr + $10,000 Sign-On Bonus
Shift & Schedule: Nights (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM) | Flexible 8, 10, or 12-Hour Shifts | Rotating Weekends
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist to join a hospital-based laboratory team. This role is responsible for performing routine and stat laboratory testing, supporting multiple laboratory disciplines, ensuring quality standards, troubleshooting laboratory issues, and delivering accurate diagnostic results that support patient care.
Responsibilities• Perform routine and stat laboratory testing according to established procedures and regulatory standards.
• Maintain competency across Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology departments.
• Analyze, interpret, and validate laboratory test results.
• Perform quality control procedures and corrective actions when necessary.
• Conduct delta checks and resolve critical laboratory values.
• Monitor pending logs and resolve outstanding laboratory workload items.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Perform specimen collection, processing, and referral testing activities as required.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
• Support turnaround time goals and departmental quality initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with CAP, regulatory, accreditation, and safety requirements.
• Function independently during night shift operations and assist with department oversight when needed.
Required Qualifications• Active Florida Medical Technologist License.
• Associate Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science.
• Minimum 1–2 years of Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist experience.
• Experience independently performing Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology testing.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and critical-thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science.
• 3+ years of hospital laboratory experience.
• Generalist laboratory experience across multiple disciplines.
• Experience working independently during off-shift operations.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory quality assurance and regulatory standards.
