Therapist – Inpatient SUD (with Mental Health Exposure) | LPC, LMFT, LAC, LCSW preferred

Full-time | Sun-Thurs 8:30 AM -5:00 PM | $75K - $85K commensurate with experience & credentials

Banyan Treatment Centers is seeking a skilled and compassionate Therapist to join our Colorado inpatient team. In this role, you will be the primary clinician for patients in our substance use disorder (SUD) programs, with meaningful cross-exposure to our mental health track, making this an exceptional opportunity to deepen your clinical range across both populations and lower levels of care.

Our Colorado facility is a 60-bed, full-continuum operation running five active programs: medically monitored detox (ASAM 3.7), residential SUD and mental health treatment, and PHP across both tracks. You will work within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team committed to evidence-based, patient-centered care

About the Company

Banyan Treatment Centers is a leading national provider of intensive treatment for individuals facing substance use and mental health disorders. Backed by TPG, one of the nation’s largest private equity investors, Banyan is rapidly expanding access to high-quality, compassionate care.

Why Join Banyan Treatment Centers?

This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact, as a Therapist, you will:

  • Broaden your clinical expertise by serving SUD patients as your primary population while gaining meaningful exposure to inpatient mental health treatment — a combination that sharpens your skills across diagnoses, acuity levels, and therapeutic approaches.
  • Step into a full-continuum environment where you'll see patients across detox, residential, and PHP — giving you a comprehensive view of the treatment episode and real influence on outcomes.
  • Work alongside experienced clinicians and medical providers in a true interdisciplinary team that values your input, supports your growth, and invests in your development.
  • Access ongoing training, clinical meta-supervision, and specialty certifications to keep building your clinical identity.
  • Join a mission-driven accredited organization that is ethically grounded and growing; with the stability and resources to back it

Benefits

Eligible full-time team members receive comprehensive benefits including:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life insurance and disability coverage
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Wellness incentives and employee assistance programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments (ASAM criteria, biopsychosocial evaluations) and complete required documentation within established timeframes.
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized, measurable treatment plans in collaboration with patients and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy in accordance with program standards, including daily process groups and psychoeducational sessions.
  • Present patient progress during treatment team meetings and case reviews; support appropriate level-of-care transitions.
  • Complete ASAM documentation for admission, continued stay, transfers, and discharge.
  • Engage families and support systems through regular sessions and collateral contacts as clinically indicated.
  • Apply clinical judgment in crisis situations including suicide risk assessment, safety planning, and de-escalation.
  • Collaborate with case management and aftercare to build comprehensive discharge and continuing care plans.
  • Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in compliance with licensure, Joint Commission, and organizational standards.
  • Participate in supervision, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or another related human services field that qualifies toward professional clinical licensure.
  • Active, fully unrestricted clinical license in Colorado required: LPC, LCSW, LMFT, LAC, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience in behavioral health and/or SUD treatment, strongly preferred.
  • EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, or trauma certification strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Joint Commission standards, state/federal confidentiality regulations, and EMR systems (Kipu preferred).

Competencies

  • Skilled in biopsychosocial evaluation, ASAM criteria, and diagnostic formulation across SUD and co-occurring mental health presentations.
  • Ability to develop individualized, goals-driven plans that reflect patient strengths, clinical needs, and recovery milestones.
  • Proficient in individual and group therapy modalities; able to facilitate process, psychoeducational, and experiential groups with purpose and clinical intention.
  • Competent in risk assessment, safety planning, and de-escalation within high-acuity inpatient settings.
  • Produces timely, accurate clinical records that meet regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
  • Works effectively within multidisciplinary teams; communicates clearly with medical providers, case managers, families, and referral sources.
  • Adapts therapeutic approach to meet the diverse backgrounds, needs, and goals of patients in recovery.
  • Maintains appropriate boundaries and adheres to ethical standards, patient confidentiality, and organizational policy.
