Job Description
Position Summary
The IT Financial Consultant serves as a strategic bridge between technology and finance, providing expert guidance on ERP system design, implementation, and optimization across manufacturing and back-office operations. This role is critical to ensuring that financial processes — from general ledger and accounts payable through accounts receivable and credit decisioning — are accurately reflected in enterprise systems and aligned with the operational realities of a multi-billion dollar, publicly traded manufacturing organization. The ideal candidate combines deep financial acumen with hands-on ERP experience and the ability to translate complex system architecture into clear, actionable guidance for executive and operational stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
ERP Systems & Workflow Architecture
- Design, configure, and optimize ERP workflows across finance, manufacturing, and supply chain functions
- Architect end-to-end process flows within ERP platforms (QAD preferred; SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or equivalent accepted)
- Lead or support ERP implementations, upgrades, and system integration projects
- Identify system gaps and recommend solutions that align with operational and financial reporting requirements
- Ensure ERP configurations support multi-entity, multi-currency, and regulatory reporting for a publicly traded company
Financial Operations & Back-Office Support
- Provide consulting support across General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions
- Support credit decisioning workflows, collections processes, and supplier payment operations within ERP
- Ensure financial controls, period-close processes, and audit requirements are properly supported by system configuration
- Partner with finance leadership to align system capabilities with SOC reporting standards
Manufacturing Operations Integration
- Collaborate with plant operations teams to align production scheduling, cost accounting, and inventory management within ERP
- Support integration between shop-floor systems and financial modules to ensure accurate cost capture and reporting
- Understand and address the unique ERP requirements of discrete and process manufacturing environments
Project Management
- Manage single and concurrent projects from initiation through delivery, including scope definition, timelines, and stakeholder communication
- Develop and maintain project plans, status reports, risk logs, and change management documentation
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including IT, finance, operations, and external vendors
- Escalate issues proactively and maintain accountability for project milestones and outcomes
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate technical and financial system concepts clearly to executive, management, and operational audiences
- Produce high-quality written deliverables including business requirements, functional specifications, process documentation, and executive summaries
- Present findings, recommendations, and project status to senior leadership with clarity and confidence
- Facilitate workshops, working sessions, and training for end users and cross-functional teams
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in ERP consulting, IT finance, or a comparable hybrid role
- Demonstrated experience supporting financial operations (GL, AP, AR) within a multi-billion dollar publicly traded company
- Proven track record managing ERP projects in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Technical & Functional Skills
- Proficiency with at least one major manufacturing ERP platform (QAD preferred; SAP, Oracle, Infor, Epicor, or similar accepted)
- Experience architecting ERP workflows and translating business requirements into system configurations
- Strong understanding of financial close processes, internal controls, and public company reporting requirements
- Ability to read and interpret financial statements, cost structures, and operational data
Project & Leadership Skills
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage single and multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities
- Experience with formal project management methodologies (PMP, Agile/Scrum, or equivalent)
- Skilled at building alignment across cross-functional and geographically distributed teams
Communication Skills
- Exceptional written communication skills — able to produce clear, concise, executive-level documentation
- Strong verbal presentation skills — comfortable facilitating meetings and presenting to C-suite audiences
- Active listening skills with the ability to translate operational pain points into structured system requirements
