Job Description
This role maintains, repairs, and improves production equipment and plant facilities to support safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations. The Maintenance Technician installs, adjusts, and troubleshoots mechanical and electrical systems, works closely with production and maintenance teams, and ensures equipment runs at optimal performance while maintaining a clean and safe work area.
Responsibilities
- Install, adjust, and repair production equipment and special-purpose machines as needed to support manufacturing operations.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively to perform maintenance tasks.
- Perform welding and use a cutting torch as required to repair or modify equipment and structures.
- Carry out general repairs to plant structures to maintain a safe and functional facility.
- Keep the work area in a clean, organized, and orderly condition to support safety and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot machinery to support production staff and minimize downtime.
- Work with the maintenance electrician to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues on equipment.
- Install equipment and electrical components and test them to ensure proper functioning.
- Observe mechanical devices and equipment and listen to operating sounds to determine proper functioning or identify causes of trouble.
- Dismantle equipment using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools to gain access to and remove defective parts.
- Replace and install parts as needed to restore equipment to proper working condition.
- Lubricate and clean parts and equipment to ensure smooth and reliable operation.
- Follow Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and other safety practices during all maintenance activities.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned on a temporary or permanent basis to support maintenance and plant operations.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and hands-on mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with mechanical repair, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems and support production staff with equipment issues.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow verbal and written instructions and schematics.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and related technical documentation.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting experience and ability to work with a maintenance electrician.
- Strong safety ethics and consistent use of safe work practices, including Lock Out/Tag Out.
- Ability to operate a variety of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs as required by the role.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, preferred.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment with production equipment.
- Familiarity with hydraulics and pneumatics systems in an industrial setting.
- Experience using hoists, cranes, and similar equipment to dismantle or move machinery.
- Ability to collaborate with electricians and other maintenance personnel to resolve complex issues.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn and expand technical skills.

Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing facility with approximately 50 employees and a fast-paced, results-oriented culture. The standard schedule is first shift, Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with additional weekend work and frequent overtime opportunities. You will work around production equipment, mechanical systems, and electrical components, using hand tools, power tools, hoists, cranes, welding equipment, and cutting torches as needed. The environment emphasizes safety, including adherence to Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and proper use of tools and equipment. The dress code requires long pants such as jeans or work pants and steel-toe footwear to support safety on the production floor.
