Job Title: CNC Press Brake Operator
Job Description
The Press Brake Operator works in a climate-controlled production shop, operating a variety of press brake machines to produce small and large metal parts with precision and efficiency. This role involves setting up machines, selecting proper tooling, making program edits, and running high-volume production while working primarily with sheet metal and other metals. The position is physically demanding, requiring frequent lifting of up to 65 pounds and consistent hands-on work throughout the shift.
Responsibilities
- Operate press brake machines, including 250-ton, 110-ton, and 55-ton units, to produce metal parts according to specifications.
- Set up press brake machines, including selecting and installing the proper tooling for each job.
- Make necessary program edits and adjustments to ensure accurate bends and part dimensions.
- Read and interpret blueprints to determine correct bend sequences, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Run all types of parts, from small components to large pieces, in a high-volume, production-based environment.
- Monitor machine performance and adjust machines as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Handle and work primarily with sheet metal, as well as other metals that come through the shop.
- Lift and move materials and finished parts, up to 65 pounds, throughout the shift.
- Work as part of the sheet metal team, coordinating with operators on two presses, one punch, and one laser.
- Cross-train and assist in related areas such as shear, laser, burn table, punch press, welding, and general fabrication as needed.
- Work with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
- Follow all shop procedures, safety guidelines, and quality control standards during machine operation and fabrication tasks.
Essential Skills
- 5 years of CNC press brake experience.
- 1+ years of experience working with sheet metal.
- Proficiency in setting up CNC press brake machines and selecting proper tooling.
- Ability to make program edits and adjust machines as needed during production.
- Strong ability to read and work from blueprints.
- Hands-on experience in a production-based machine shop environment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while meeting production goals.
- Physical ability to lift up to 65 pounds and perform a physically demanding role throughout the shift.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Fabrication experience, including working with various metals and processes.
- Experience with forklift operation in a production or warehouse setting.
- Exposure to shear, laser, burn table, punch press, and welding operations.
- General machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to cross-train in multiple areas within the sheet metal team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
