Job Title: Therapist
Job Summary:
CASES seeks a Therapist for the Assertive Community Engagement & Success (ACES) Team. The Therapist will provide trauma-informed, community-based clinical services to enrolled participants. ACES is a program serving young men ages 16-24 residing in East Harlem or the South Bronx who may not have started but can strive to overcome threatening environments and system-involvement to find the path to success. These young people will be engaged in high-risk behaviors and voluntarily engage with the ACES program.
We are looking for skilled team members who can envision a model based on the theory that young people regardless of roadblocks; violence, trauma, racism, gangs, incarceration, truancy, and unemployment can engage in positive relationships to change behaviors and acquire life, education, and employment skills.
This position is full-time and requires in-person and in-community work primarily.
Salary: The salary for the Therapist role is $73,000 per year.
Shift Hours: The Therapist position is full-time working Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Location Address: 4 West 125th Street, New York, N.Y. 10027 with community-based travel to all 5 boroughs.
Workplace Flexibility: Flexible (for roles that have days that can be partially remote, e.g., being able to draft notes at home after going to the office/community in the morning). Will include field work to all 5 boroughs.
What you will be doing:
- Provide individual counseling to participants at home, in community settings, or in office
- Carry small caseload of 1:1 therapy
- Support youth in building coping skills, emotional regulation and positive decision making
- Collaborate with program staff to align services and support youth progress
- Facilitate workshops or small groups on topics such as anger management, conflict resolution, and healthy relationships
- Work with family support systems when appropriate
- Collaborate with team members for real-time support in crisis or escalated moment and high needs cases
- Maintain up-to-date documentation in databases and trackers when necessary
- Maintain ongoing communication with partners
- Participate in professional development training to better equip yourself to support the program and participants
What we are looking for:
- LMSW or LHMC required, licensed in New York State
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience providing clinical services to young adult that are hard to reach
- Experience working with systems-involved / high risk you preferred
- Ability to build authentic and consistent relationships
- Experience with group facilitation and crisis response
