Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists is looking for a full-time Occupational Therapist with a focus on Hand Therapy to join the team!

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses patient condition, establishes goals, treatments and care plan in conjunction with patient/family/physician
  • Ensures that appropriate treatment is performed in interdisciplinary fashion, consulting with physicians and other departments about impact of rehabilitation factors on patient health status
  • Documents findings, treatments and other patient information in medical records
  • Complies with appropriate clinic policies related to infection control, safety, regulations
  • Educates patient/family on appropriate care and use of various therapies/exercise
  • Serves as information/education resource for patients, families, staff
  • Provide hand and upper extremity therapy services, maintaining appropriate protocols
  • Produce timely and accurate records/reports, including completion of all required clinical documentation consistent with professional standards and company policy
  • Utilize support staff effectively and efficiently maintaining availability on schedule for new patient evaluations and patients requiring more extensive therapy
  • Delegate responsibility and tasks to support staff accordingly
  • Prepare and contribute to monthly staff meetings: discussing problems, offering suggestions/solutions, and providing strategies for improvements
  • Supervise and evaluate occupational therapy students during clinical affiliations under the guidelines established by SOS and the participating college, university, or other educational institution
  • Attend required meetings and in-services and cover outside events/programs as needed
  • Assist and instruct in-services as required
  • Maintain a clean and presentable clinic

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Current state license to practice physical therapy
  • 1-2 years of hand therapy experience required
  • Current CPR certification
  • Knowledge of clinic policies/procedures/regulations, safety/infection control, quality control requirement
  • Knowledge of how to use/maintain physical/occupational therapy equipment
  • Skill in appropriate evaluation and treatment of patients and the ability to evaluate utilization and quality data and make necessary modifications in performance
  • Skill in using PT/OT equipment by consistently using devices appropriately to improve patient health status
  • Skill in effectively maintaining equipment, successfully completing competency testing
