Montana Kidney PLLC is seeking a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our growing nephrology practice. This position plays an important role in supporting patient care, clinic operations, and provider efficiency. The Medical Assistant works closely with the physician and office staff to ensure a positive patient experience while maintaining efficient workflows and high standards of quality and professionalism.

The ideal candidate is a team player who is comfortable working in a small practice environment, enjoys building relationships with patients, and is willing to assist in a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to support the success of the clinic.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review patient charts prior to appointments to ensure all current laboratory results, imaging reports, consultation notes, and outside records are available.
  • Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, and weight.
  • Review and reconcile medications with patients and update medication lists in the electronic medical record.
  • Ensure patient intake forms, medical histories, and required questionnaires are complete and up to date.
  • Assist the physician during patient visits as needed.
  • Document patient information accurately in the EMR.
Care Coordination

  • Assist with laboratory orders, imaging orders, referrals, and follow-up communication.
  • Coordinate with patients, pharmacies, laboratories, hospitals, and other healthcare providers as needed.
  • Process medication refill requests according to clinic policies.
  • Assist with prior authorizations and specialty medication processes as assigned.
Clinic Operations

  • Maintain clean, organized, and stocked exam rooms and clinical areas.
  • Monitor inventory and notify the office manager when supplies require replenishment.
  • Support workflow efficiency and identify opportunities for process improvement.
Patient Experience

  • Provide exceptional customer service and compassionate patient care.
  • Answer patient questions and assist with patient concerns in a professional manner.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA standards.
  • Promote a welcoming, respectful, and patient-centered environment.
Compliance and Safety

  • Follow clinic policies regarding safety, infection control, patient privacy, and security.
  • Maintain required certifications and participate in staff training and educational opportunities.
  • Comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements.
Teamwork and Flexibility

  • Work collaboratively with the physician, office manager, front desk staff, and outside organizations.
  • Assist with additional duties and projects as needed to support clinic operations.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and contribute to a positive and supportive team environment.
Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred
  • Previous experience in a physician office or specialty clinic preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical records preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team.
