The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is looking for a Forest Maintenance Supervisor who enjoys leading teams and working outdoors. In this role, you will guide maintenance efforts, support forest fire response, and ensure facilities and roads remain safe and functional. You will help staff learn new skills while contributing to the overall health of Tioga State Forest. This position offers meaningful work that strengthens public access and protects valuable natural resources.
This role supports the Ansonia South Division by supervising crews, maintaining forest infrastructure, and ensuring safe work practices. Your work will help protect natural resources and support positive experiences for forest visitors. As a Forest Maintenance Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:
- Crew Supervision: Lead and assist staff in maintaining roads, boundaries, buildings, and equipment
- Emergency Response: Support forest fire suppression efforts and assist with searches and other emergencies
- Safety Oversight: Ensure safe work sites, proper equipment use, and compliance with safety standards
- Administrative Tasks: Plan work, manage staff performance, handle records, and coordinate supplies
- Public Interaction: Provide information, assistance, and support for forest users and public programs

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position requires travel
- This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS)

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of semi-skilled maintenance or construction experience which includes one year in the operation of small and medium size construction or agricultural equipment; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's license (CDL).
