Job Description
The COMSEC Custodian is responsible for the accountability, safeguarding, distribution, destruction, and lifecycle management of all Communications Security (COMSEC) material supporting the Colombian Joint Force under FMS Case CO-D-GAK. This role ensures full compliance with Department of the Air Force, NSA, and DoD directives while supporting day-to-day operations of the COMSEC account, audits, and secure communications readiness.
Key Responsibilities
· COMSEC Account Management - Maintain, operate, and secure the COMSEC account in accordance with DoDM 5105.21, CNSSI 4005, AFMAN 17-1302-O, and PWS requirements for the CO-D-GAK program.
· Material Control & Accountability - Track, receipt, issue, transfer, and destroy keying material (KEYMAT), CCI equipment, and classified cryptographic items using approved systems (e.g., ACES, EKMS/KMI).
· Physical & Information Security - Maintain secure storage, access control, and continuous protection of all COMSEC holdings.
· Audit & Inspection Support - Prepare for and support formal inspections, inventories, and NSA/USAF audits; maintain 100% accountability.
· Incident Prevention & Reporting - Identify, document, and report COMSEC incidents, practices dangerous to security (PDS), and security deviations.
· Keying Material Management - Manage ordering, generation, distribution, and destruction of keying material in accordance with mission timelines.
· Training & User Support - Provide COMSEC briefings, training, and guidance to Colombian Joint Force personnel and U.S. support staff.
· Equipment Maintenance Coordination - Coordinate maintenance, replacement, and lifecycle management of CCI and cryptographic devices.
· Documentation & Recordkeeping - Maintain logs, SF-153s, access lists, destruction records, and PWS-required documentation.
· Mission Support - Ensure COMSEC readiness for operational missions, exercises, and secure communications supporting the FMS program.
