Job Description
- Responsible for performing clerical and reception duties, as well as the primary functions of a Medical Assistant. Works to facilitate processes with other departments, personnel, and insurance companies to coordinate patient care. Answers phones, schedules patient appointments, handles -pre-certifications and referrals. Maintains a pleasant, efficient, and well-organized working environment.
-Responsible for rooming patients, including recording weight and vital signs.
-Enters patient information in the electronic medical record.
-Coordinates patient flow by scheduling appointments, checking in patients upon arrival, confirming demographic information and insurance, confirming or obtaining referrals as appropriate, and collecting copays.
-Performs office duties to include, but not limited to answering phones and directing phone calls, or taking and relaying messages appropriately.
-Responsible for scheduling patients for tests and procedures, obtaining necessary insurance authorization, and providing patients with instructions.
- Part time position - 2 days a week and vacation coverage
Education:
High school diploma required. RMA, CMA, NCMA, CCMA, ABR-OE, or comparable credential required.
Experience:
Experience in a medical office or hospital department, or graduate of a medical administrative training program preferred but not required. Basic computer skills required. Good verbal and documentation skills required. Epic knowledge is a plus, but not required.
Working Conditions:
At least one year of experience in medical office or hospital department, or graduate of MA program and/or greater than one year of medical assisting experience. Basic computer skills required. Good verbal and documentation skills required. The assessment, care and treatment provided by the medical assistant will be consistent with the needs of the patient.
