Job Responsibilities

• Sterile Field Maintenance: Arrange, count, and manage sterile fields with the specific instruments, drapes, and supplies required for scheduled surgical interventions according to physician preference cards.

• Intraoperative Assistance: Anticipate surgical team requirements dynamically, passing instruments, sutures, and sponges safely while strictly monitoring aseptic boundaries.

• Surgical Safety Counts: Perform precise, multi-point instrument, sharp, and sponge counts alongside the circulating nurse before the initial incision, during the procedure, and prior to final wound closure.

• Specimen & Demobilization: Safely handle, track, and verify tissue specimens for laboratory drop-off; coordinate post-op cleanup and transfer used instrumentation safely to decontamination.

Job Requirements

• Certification: National Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through NBSTSA or NCCT is preferred not required.

• Experience: Minimum 1 to 2 years of recent, independent scrubbing experience in a high-volume inpatient hospital or acute surgical facility.

• Clinical Diversity: Experience across general operating room platforms (e.g., General, Orthopedics, GYN, or Urology). Ability to participate in the local department's on-call rotation as scheduled.

• Life Support: Active American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification.
