Job Responsibilities

• Sterile Field Maintenance: Prepare and arrange sterile fields with the specific instruments, implants, and supplies required for scheduled surgical cases using physician preference cards.

• Intraoperative Assistance: Anticipate the surgical team's needs, efficiently passing instruments, sutures, and sponges while maintaining a clean and safe sterile perimeter.

• Surgical Safety Counts: Execute strict, multi-point counts of all instruments, sharps, and sponges alongside the circulating nurse before skin incision and prior to closure.

• Specimen & Room Breakdown: Handle and identify tissue specimens safely before passing to the circulator, and assist with immediate post-op breakdown and preparation of the room for the next case.

Requirements

Job Requirements

• Certification & Registration: Active national certification (CST through NBSTSA or NCCT) is preferred but not required. Must possess or be eligible for an active Surgical Technologist Registration with the Washington State Department of Health.

• Experience: Minimum 1 to 2 years of recent, independent scrubbing experience in a high-volume acute care hospital or level-one trauma setting.

• Clinical Competency: Versatility across multiple surgical specialties (e.g., Orthopedics, General, Neuro, GYN, or Plastics). Participation in a weekend/weekday on-call rotation may be required.

• Life Support: Active American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification.
