Job Title: Forklift Operator

Job Description

This role operates a 16-ton SANY sit-down forklift for most of the shift while also supporting general production and facility upkeep in a concrete manufacturing environment. You will handle material movement, loading and unloading, and shipment preparation, while contributing as a hands-on team member beyond core forklift duties.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a 16-ton SANY sit-down forklift safely and efficiently for approximately 5–6 hours per day, or about 80% of the shift.
  • Load, unload, move, stock, and stage products and materials using a forklift or other powered industrial equipment.
  • Pull and prepare products for shipment, ensuring the exact number and type of products are accurately picked and loaded.
  • Verify load accuracy by checking load counts, stability, and product condition, and report any variances or damage as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports to support inventory accuracy and traceability.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds as needed while handling materials and performing production-related tasks.
  • Help keep the facility neat, clean, and orderly, taking on general labor and housekeeping tasks in addition to forklift operation.
  • Complete daily inspections of forklifts and other equipment and promptly report any issues or maintenance needs.
  • Comply with all OSHA standards, safety rules, and site-specific procedures at all times.
  • Actively communicate with production and integration team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow and resolve issues.
  • Meet loading and unloading time constraints to support production schedules and on-time shipments.
  • Support production and pre-cast concrete activities as needed, including basic material handling and measurement tasks using a tape measure.

Essential Skills

  • Prior forklift operating experience in an industrial, warehouse, or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to operate a sit-down forklift safely and confidently, including loading, unloading, and staging materials.
  • Experience with material handling, including moving, stacking, and organizing products and materials.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed throughout the shift.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and safe operation of powered industrial trucks.
  • Ability to verify load counts, check load stability, and inspect products for damage.
  • Basic recordkeeping skills to maintain accurate inventory-related documentation.
  • Willingness to perform general labor and facility cleaning tasks in addition to forklift operation.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to work closely with production and integration teams.
  • Reliability to work a 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday–Friday first-shift schedule.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Heavy equipment operator experience, including operation of industrial or construction equipment.
  • Current or prior forklift certification for sit-down or industrial forklifts.
  • Experience in a concrete, pre-cast, or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Background in production or general labor roles in industrial settings.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for basic measurement tasks.
  • Comfort working with a variety of powered equipment and material handling tools.

Why Work Here?

You will join a stable organization that offers a consistent first-shift schedule and a supportive team-focused culture. Compensation is positioned above typical pay grade scales for similar roles, and there is significant opportunity for overtime for those who want to increase their earnings. The concrete manufacturing environment is designed for comfort, staying cooler than outdoor conditions in warm weather and heated to a comfortable temperature during winter, providing a more pleasant alternative to working outside in extreme heat or in a hot warehouse.

Work Environment

This position is based in a concrete manufacturing facility that operates a first-shift schedule from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The environment is a pre-cast and production setting where concrete absorbs heat, helping keep the interior cooler than the outside during warmer months. During winter, the plant is enclosed and heated to approximately 65 degrees for a comfortable working temperature. You will regularly operate a 16-ton SANY sit-down forklift and other material handling equipment around concrete products and industrial materials. The role involves active, hands-on work that includes material handling, equipment operation, and general labor in a team-oriented setting. Dress is typical for an industrial and manufacturing environment, with appropriate workwear and safety gear suited for concrete and heavy equipment operations.
