Job Title: Brazer / Pipefitter
Job Description
This temp-to-hire role offers an opportunity for an experienced brazer and pipefitter to support complex piping systems within a shipyard environment. You will install, fabricate, and modify piping systems in accordance with detailed blueprints, drawings, and specifications, while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and workmanship.
Responsibilities
- Install, fabricate, and modify piping systems in accordance with blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Interpret and apply standard pipe fitting procedures to complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Qualify and work in designated areas, including P-3 piping, face feeding, and insert work at Grade III, IV, and V levels.
- Identify system and component locations based on ship structure and layout requirements.
- Use layout tools to measure, mark, and prepare materials for cutting, fitting, and installation.
- Provide and maintain appropriate hand tools as required by the trade designation.
- Perform structural welding, including carbon steel welding in vertical and horizontal positions, as needed for piping and related fabrication.
- Carry out tack welding and fabrication tasks to support installation and alignment of piping systems.
- Support quality requirements, including work on systems subject to X-ray inspection where applicable.
- Collaborate with other trades and team members in a shipyard environment to complete projects on schedule.
- Follow all safety procedures and shipyard regulations while working in confined, elevated, or industrial areas.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency with standard pipe fitting procedures.
- Ability to qualify in P-3 piping, face feeding, and insert work at Grade III, IV, and V.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to fabricate and install piping systems.
- Ability to identify system and component locations based on ship structure.
- Proficiency with layout tools used for piping and fabrication work.
- Ability to provide and use appropriate hand tools per trade designation.
- 4–7 years of experience in pipefitting, brazing, or related shipyard piping work.
- Experience with structural welding, including steel and carbon steel welding.
- Ability to perform vertical and horizontal welding.
- Experience with welding and fabrication in shipfitter environments.
- Capability to work on systems that may require X-ray quality standards.
- Ability to perform tack welding in support of fabrication and installation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a shipyard environment.
- Pipefitting and fabrication of steel structures.
- Familiarity with carbon steel welding for marine or industrial applications.
- Comfort working on contract-based or temp-to-hire assignments.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Work Environment
This role is based in a shipyard environment, working on vessels and related structures. The shift starts at 6:00 AM, and you must be able to work a full-time schedule, including weekends as needed to meet project demands. Work is performed in an industrial setting that may include confined spaces, elevated areas, and exposure to typical shipyard conditions such as noise, steel structures, and welding operations. Appropriate personal protective equipment and trade-appropriate attire are required at all times.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $16.00 - $30.00/hr.
