Job Description
Role: Industrial Piping Support Designer
Location: Kodak, TN 37764 (on-site)
- Open to relocation candidates!
Logistics: 6 month contract-to-permanent
Hours: Monday-Thursday (7:45AM CST- 5:15PM CST), Friday (7:45AM CST-11:45AM CST)
Starting Pay: $28/hr - $32/hr (depending on years of experience, certs, etc.)
Position Summary
Designers are responsible for developing detailed layouts, concepts, and technical documentation based on engineering inputs, calculations, and customer specifications. These deliverables support the fabrication and manufacturing processes, enabling the production of various products, including pipe support systems and standardized components, using advanced CAD tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, evaluate, and update drawings, layouts, and specifications for pipe support systems and related products.
- Create designs for both new applications and enhancements to existing product lines.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy in drawings and bills of materials, reducing errors and minimizing manufacturing rework.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver precise and high-quality design solutions.
- Participate in project discussions and coordinate closely with estimating, production, manufacturing, operations leadership, and customers to ensure design objectives are met.
- Produce efficient designs that align with project budgets and cost considerations.
- Apply industry standards, codes, and best practices to all assigned design work, maintaining up-to-date technical knowledge.
- Utilize design software platforms such as MicroStation, Navisworks, and AutoCAD effectively.
- Organize and safeguard digital design files, documentation, and engineering records.
- Review and validate all drawings and documentation to ensure compliance with engineering standards prior to release for production.
- Support additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Certification or diploma from a vocational or technical program in AutoCAD or a related drafting discipline.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a 3D modeling environment for industrial projects/clients, specifically with pipe support systems.
- An associate degree in industrial design, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with industry safety standards and operational procedures.
- Working knowledge of ASME B31.1 and/or B31.3 codes is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong visualization and conceptual design abilities, along with experience in computer-aided drafting and structural detailing.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a focus on achieving goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly exchange technical information with customers, engineers, and technicians, as well as interpret and convey drawing and reporting data.
