Job Title: Receiving Clerk
Job Description

This role is responsible for accurately receiving, handling, preserving, storing, and shipping parts and equipment in a manufacturing environment. The Receiving Clerk ensures all incoming materials match purchase orders, are properly entered into the inventory system, and are stored safely and efficiently, while also preparing outgoing shipments in accordance with company quality standards and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming products and materials, verify them against purchase orders, and ensure accuracy of quantities and part numbers.
  • Enter received parts and materials into the Visual Manufacturing System or other ERP system to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Handle, preserve, and store incoming products in accordance with company procedures to prevent damage and ensure traceability.
  • Report any non-conforming parts or materials, consult with engineering or manufacturing for disposition, and log the material onto the Non-Conforming Material Report (NCMR) log.
  • Release parts into storage locations and retrieve parts from storage as required to support production and service activities.
  • Participate in periodic assessments and internal audits of stored items as part of inventory management, conducted at least annually.
  • Read and interpret applicable blueprints to verify parts and ensure correct handling and storage.
  • Crate, package, and prepare outgoing materials, parts, and equipment for shipment according to customer and company requirements.
  • Handle hazardous and environmentally unsafe materials in accordance with instructions, labels, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Maintain equipment and facilities in a clean, safe, and professional operating condition.
  • Perform order entry, shipping and receiving, and inventory-related tasks to support accurate stock levels and timely deliveries.
  • Use weight scales to verify shipment and receipt weights and ensure proper documentation.
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues and customers to resolve issues and coordinate shipping, receiving, and inventory activities.
Essential Skills
  • Knowledge equivalent to completion of accredited apprenticeship training or three years of technical training courses beyond high school.
  • Experience in shipping and receiving operations.
  • Experience with packaging and preparing shipments, including crating and protective packaging.
  • Computer skills, including the ability to use an ERP system; experience with Visual Manufacturing or similar systems is helpful.
  • Ability to perform accurate data entry for inventory, order entry, and shipping documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints relevant to parts and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of weight scales and their use in shipping and receiving.
  • Ability to handle hazardous and environmentally unsafe materials in accordance with MSDS and written instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple incoming and outgoing shipments and inventory tasks.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with other employees and customers, both verbally and in writing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with inventory management, including periodic assessments and internal audits.
  • Familiarity with packaging, shipping, and receiving processes in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Good general computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Prior experience using ERP systems; ERP knowledge is considered a plus.
  • Military veteran status is viewed favorably for this role.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record keeping.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and other departments.

Work Environment

Standard hours are approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with potential opportunities for overtime depending on workload. You will work with inventory systems such as Visual Manufacturing or other ERP platforms, use weight scales, and handle various packaging, crating, and material handling tools. The environment emphasizes safe handling of hazardous and environmentally sensitive materials, following MSDS guidance and company procedures. The shop operates as a one-stop solution for customers, supporting large food and chemical companies, and maintains a professional, hands-on setting where equipment and facilities are kept in good operating condition.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
