Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Specialist
Job Description
This role focuses on managing all aspects of shipping and receiving operations within a busy warehouse and paper processing facility. You will verify incoming shipments, maintain accurate inventory records, coordinate outbound logistics, and support production by ensuring materials and supplies are available when needed. The position requires strong attention to detail, solid organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Responsibilities
- Receive incoming shipments and carefully inspect goods for damage, defects, or discrepancies.
- Verify received items against purchase orders and packing slips to ensure accuracy.
- Record all incoming items in the inventory system and maintain up-to-date documentation.
- Coordinate with the inventory team to ensure stock is properly stored, labeled, and recorded.
- Report any damaged or missing items promptly to supervisors and vendors.
- Operate computer software, including Microsoft D365, to manage shipping and receiving activities.
- Work with carriers to schedule pickups and coordinate outbound shipments.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shipping and receiving area at all times.
- Assist with inventory counts and perform regular stock audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Organize products within the warehouse to optimize space, accessibility, and efficiency.
- Keep track of materials and supplies needed for the production floor and ensure timely replenishment.
- Handle shipping, inbound orders, and shipment verification to support daily logistics operations.
- Perform general labor tasks, including loading and unloading trucks and handling physical materials.
- Support kitting, order selection, and other logistics-related tasks as required.
Essential Skills
- Previous shipping and receiving experience in a warehouse or similar environment.
- Hands-on experience with shipping, receiving, inbound orders, and shipment verification.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including standing, walking, and lifting heavy items for extended periods.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Experience with inventory control, stock management, and regular inventory counts.
- Proficiency using computer software such as Microsoft D365 for logistics and inventory tasks.
- Ability to work effectively in a loud production environment and adapt to varying warehouse temperatures.
- Capability to safely load and unload materials and operate within shipping and receiving processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in logistics, order selection, and kitting operations.
- Work experience in a paper processing, manufacturing, or similar industrial facility.
- Familiarity with SAP or other warehouse management systems is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when verifying shipments and updating records.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with carriers, vendors, and internal teams.

Work Environment

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Covington, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.15 - $17.15/hr.
