Job Description
BIM Coordinator

Position Overview
We are seeking an organized, technically skilled BIM Coordinator to lead model coordination, quality control, and BIM processes for MEP projects. This role focuses on integrating Mechanical Systems, HVAC, and piping discipline models, enforcing BIM standards,  and supporting Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) workflows to deliver accurate, constructible design information and improve project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and enforce company and project-specific BIM standards, templates, and best practices for mechanical, HVAC, and piping models.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary BIM models (architectural, structural, MEP) to identify and resolve clashes using tools such as Navisworks and Revit.
  • Perform regular model quality checks and audits, ensuring compliance with project requirements, LOD, and fabrication-level detailing where required.
  • Lead clash detection workflows: set up clash tests, manage issue tracking, prioritize clashes, and support trade partners in resolution.
  • Support VDC activities by producing coordinated models, construction sequences, and drawing extraction to assist scheduling, cost, and constructability reviews.
  • Maintain and manage BIM project libraries and families, ensuring correct naming conventions, parameterization, and version control.
  • Provide technical support and training to project teams and subcontractors on Revit, BIM documentation, and collaborative workflows.
  • Facilitate coordination meetings and BIM review sessions; prepare and distribute coordination reports and model deliverables.
  • Collaborate with design, estimating, fabrication, and field teams to ensure the model supports downstream prefabrication and installation activities.
  • Assist in project handover by preparing as-built models, model data exports, and BIM deliverables for owners and facility management systems.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in BIM coordination on commercial or industrial projects, with demonstrated focus on mechanical systems, HVAC, and piping.
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit for MEP modeling and family creation, including advanced modeling and parameter management.
  • Familiarity with VDC workflows and experience producing 4D/5D simulations and construction sequencing.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems, HVAC design principles, ductwork and piping routing, fabrication, and installation constraints.
  • Knowledge of BIM standards and protocols (e.g., ISO 19650, NBIMS, or company-specific standards) and experience implementing them on projects.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to lead coordination meetings and interact with design teams, subcontractors, and field personnel.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
