\nRN - Med Surg/Tele
\nJob Details:
\n• 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
\n • Weekend rotation required every other weekend, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
\n • Holiday requirement of 2 out of 3 holidays
\n • Potential to be placed on call or standby
\n • Must be able to float to like units and patients
\n • Nurse-to-patient ratios: 5:1 on day shift, 6:1 at 11:00 PM; team nursing with LPNs at 2:7 ratios
\n • Common diagnoses include NHP, cellulitis, UTI, COPD, GU, pacemaker, sepsis, nursing home placements, and day surgical cases including ortho (hips and knees), cholecystectomies, appendectomies, and TURPS-CBI
\n • Must be comfortable with IV starts as there is no IV team on site
\n • 1 year of Med Surg or Med Surg Telemetry experience in acute care required
\n • Preferred experience with TURPS-CBI and Critical Access or Trauma Level 3 or 4 facilities
\n • Basic telemetry arrhythmia knowledge required; strips reviewed in ICU daily with physical monitor at nurses station
\n • Travelers may be placed as relief charge nurse
\n • Nurse aids available on unit
\n • Hospitalist available until 6:00 PM daily, then telemed utilized
\n • Respiratory therapy available 24/7 with CPAP equipment on site
\n • Solid professional scrubs required with no specific color requirement
\n • Orientation includes computer education on day 1 (8 hours with 4 hours shadowing), a 12-hour orientation shift on day 2, and independent work beginning on day 3
\n • Required certifications: BLS (AHA); ACLS preferred
\n • Must clock in and out at the facility
Facility:
\nThis acute care facility is a Trauma Level 4 hospital offering inpatient and observation services across a 24-bed unit that can accommodate up to 10 observation and day surgery patients. The facility operates with a collaborative team nursing model and provides a broad range of medical and surgical services. With limited on-site resources including no dedicated IV team and respiratory therapy overseeing the entire hospital, this position is well-suited for adaptable and experienced clinicians comfortable working in a critical access-style environment.
