IT - Desktop Deployment Technician

Key Responsibilities

Workstation Configuration & Deployment

• Unbox, inventory, and prepare approximately 188 Dell workstations for deployment.
• Apply and verify asset tags on all devices.
• Configure BIOS settings, including asset tag information and workstation hostnames.
• Install and validate standard corporate workstation images using enterprise endpoint management tools.
• Apply Operating System Extended Security Update (ESU) licensing keys.
• Perform workstation testing and quality assurance checks to ensure successful deployment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve deployment-related issues as they arise.
• Make configuration adjustments based on user validation feedback and operational requirements.

Asset Management & Logistics

• Track workstation deployment progress and maintain accurate asset records.
• Coordinate hardware staging and deployment activities.
• Break down and properly dispose of packaging materials in designated onsite locations.
• Collect and relocate replaced workstations to designated storage or return areas upon completion of deployment activities.

Project Coordination & Reporting

• Participate in project kickoff meetings and deployment planning sessions.
• Follow established project schedules and deployment timelines.
• Provide regular project status updates, including progress against milestones.
• Identify project risks, issues, and potential delays, and communicate mitigation plans to project leadership.
• Maintain accurate project documentation throughout the engagement.

Customer Support

• Support end-user workstation validation activities.
• Address workstation-related issues during deployment and migration activities.
• Provide professional and responsive customer service during all user interactions.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in desktop support, workstation deployment, or IT hardware refresh projects.
• Experience imaging and deploying Windows workstations in an enterprise environment.
• Familiarity with BIOS configuration and hardware setup procedures.
• Experience with asset tagging, inventory management, and hardware tracking.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to follow documented procedures and deployment standards.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift, move, and transport computer equipment as needed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise endpoint management and imaging solutions.
• Previous experience supporting large-scale workstation refresh or migration projects.
• Experience working in highly structured enterprise IT environments.
• Familiarity with Dell workstation hardware and deployment best practices.
• Experience creating project status reports and deployment documentation.

Deliverables

• Successfully deploy and configure approximately 188 Dell workstations according to client standards.
• Maintain accurate asset tracking and deployment documentation.
• Provide recurring project status updates throughout the engagement.
• Ensure all replaced workstations are collected and returned to designated onsite locations upon project completion.
