Full-Time-ExemptRichland County First Steps (RCFS) is seeking a creative, organized, and community-minded Communications & Outreach Specialist to lead the organization's communications and outreach efforts. This position serves as a vital connection between RCFS and the families, community partners, and stakeholders we serve by increasing awareness of our mission and expanding access to resources that support young children and families throughout Richland County.The Communications & Outreach Specialist will develop and implement strategic communications initiatives, manage internal and external messaging, coordinate community outreach activities and events, and ensure brand consistency across all communication platforms. This role works closely with the Executive Director, fundraising consultant, and program teams to promote the organization's mission and the Palmetto BASICS campaign.Key Responsibilities
- Implement the agency's Strategic and Communications Plans and develop communication initiatives that support organizational goals.
- Manage and maintain social media platforms to highlight programs, events, family engagement activities, and community partnerships.
- Develop compelling communication materials, including newsletters, press releases, marketing materials, and digital content.
- Ensure website content remains current, relevant, and aligned with agency priorities and branding standards.
- Coordinate internal communications and support agency-wide activities and documentation.
- Track communication metrics and outreach efforts to evaluate effectiveness and identify opportunities for growth.
- Collaborate with leadership and program teams to ensure consistent messaging and incorporate Palmetto BASICS messaging throughout the organization.
- Identify, coordinate, and participate in community events, outreach opportunities, and partnership activities.
- Represent Richland County First Steps at meetings, presentations, and community events in a professional and engaging manner.
- Coordinate event logistics, including registration, materials preparation, and follow-up communications.
- Support fundraising and donor communications as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field required.
- Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree for highly qualified candidates.
- Previous experience in community engagement, communications, marketing, or public relations.
- Experience managing social media platforms and creating digital content.
- Experience coordinating events, community outreach initiatives, and partnership activities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and effectively engage diverse audiences.
- Experience with graphic design and content creation tools such as Canva and Adobe preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media management tools.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and maintain reliable transportation.
