5:30 AM-2:00 PM Monday through Friday, with rotating Saturday shifts during winter months.
8 hours per day excluding breaks
This position is responsible for overall food preparation for employees and members at the ASIP Local 150 Training Center. Must be adaptable to menu changes and be able to meet meal schedules. Ensures safe food preparations and proper sanitation methods are used and maintains a safe kitchen/pantry area.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepare work areas with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
- Prepare ingredients for use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
- Cook food in various ways such as in the oven, on the grill, or in the deep fryer.
- Keep a sanitized, organized and clean environment in the kitchen.
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
- Assist with food orders and check quality of ingredients upon delivery.
- Work at a fast pace and be on your feet for long periods of time.
- Assist in creating daily menus.
- Use the computer to complete transactions.
- Manage the quantity of food made to ensure that there is sufficient food for the number of employees and members.

- Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
- Must be able to work in a cafeteria style kitchen.
- Exhibit professionalism and a positive attitude.
- Ability to adhere to Operating Engineers Local 150 Apprenticeship Fund policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Ability to read and follow recipes accurately.
- Basic math skills for recipe conversions and portion control.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma, or completion of G.E.D. required.
- 2+ years working as a cook/chef in a restaurant or cafeteria preferred.
- Must possess current Sanitation/Food Protection Manager License.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of walking and standing.
- Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds at times.
