Emergency Medicine Locum Opportunity – Michigan
A community emergency department is seeking a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine physician for ongoing shift coverage. Emergency credentialing is available for qualified candidates, making this an excellent opportunity for providers with immediate availability.
Compensation: Orientation: $135/hr, Hourly: $270/hr, Holiday: $410/hr,
Overtime: $410/hr.

Approximately 8 shifts anticipated, primarily nights

Practice Setting
Community Emergency Department
Annual ED Volume: Approximately 13,800 visits
Average Daily Volume: 32–50 patients
10 Emergency Department beds
Level IV Trauma Center
Epic EMR
Clinical Responsibilities
Evaluate and manage emergency department patients
Supervise Advanced Practice Providers during overlapping shifts
Respond to hospital codes as needed
Interpret EKGs (cardiology provides final review)
Coordinate care with consulting specialists
Collaborate with admitting physicians for inpatient admissions
Support Staff
One Advanced Practice Provider scheduled daily from 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
Locum physician will provide APP supervision during overlapping
coverage

Approximately 55% of hospital admissions originate from the ED
Admission rate of approximately 6.4%
Fewer than 7 patient transfers per 24-hour period
OB patients are stabilized and transferred to a higher-acuity labor and delivery facility when needed
Requirements
Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM)
Active Michigan Medical License (full license required at presentation)
ACLS Certification
ATLS Certification
Experience supervising Advanced Practice Providers
Experience working in a community emergency department setting
Current Self-Query NPDB report (dated within 30 days of presentation)
Submission Requirements
Available July and/or August dates must be specified at presentation
Active Michigan license must be in hand at the time of submission
NPDB Self-Query report required at presentation
Credentialing
Emergency credentialing available
Immediate coverage needs beginning in July
